Bhubaneswar: In a proactive move to ensure the safety of its citizens abroad, the Government of Odisha has initiated a comprehensive security and monitoring framework following a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary, Anu Garg. The session focused on establishing robust emergency protocols for Odia expatriates currently residing in the Middle East as regional tensions escalate.

The meeting saw participation from top state administration and security officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Shri Hemant Sharma, DGP Shri Y. B. Khurania, Director of Intelligence Shri Raosaheb P. Koche, and Special Secretary Home, Shri Radha Kishan Sharma. Their presence underscores a unified state effort to prioritize the welfare of the Odia diaspora.

Labor Commissioner Shri Indramani Tripathi and Dr. Bijaya Ketan Upadhyay, Secretary of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, also contributed to the strategy, ensuring that both administrative logistics and cultural outreach are addressed during this sensitive period.

Recognizing the humanitarian urgency of the situation, the Chief Secretary Shrimati Garg has directed all relevant departments to maintain a constant vigil. A dedicated Working Group has been constituted, integrating resources from the Directorate of Odisha Paribar, the Home Department, the State Labour Directorate, and the Protector of Emigrants. This multi-agency approach aims to provide a seamless safety net for non-resident Odias and their families back home.

During the deliberations, officials emphasized that while the situation is being monitored with the utmost seriousness, the current status remains under control. Authorities are also keeping a close watch on social media platforms to counter misinformation and respond to emergency requests in real-time.
