New Delhi: The Ministry of Education today hosted the Study in India Edu-Diplomatic Conclave at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, marking a significant step in the nation’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation in higher education.
Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan addressed a gathering of ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomatic representatives from more than 50 countries, outlining the transformation of the Indian academic landscape.
During his address, Minister Shri Pradhan focused on the evolution of the education system under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He noted that India is prioritizing quality, innovation, and affordability to position itself as a global hub for learning. The Minister connected these educational reforms to the broader vision of achieving a developed nation status by 2047, emphasizing that India’s vibrant knowledge ecosystem and demographic dividend make it a premier destination for research and implementation.
The Minister further identified key sectors where India is emerging as a global innovation partner, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, semiconductors, and sustainable energy. He described education as the most enduring bridge between societies and invited partner nations to collaborate with India’s multidisciplinary and access-friendly system. This collaborative approach, he noted, is rooted in the Global South model of shared knowledge and capacity-building.
Adding to the discussion on structural reforms, Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Vineet Joshi detailed the progress made over the last six years. He highlighted the integration of vocational skilling into mainstream learning and the expansion of internationalization through joint, dual, and twinning programs.
Dr. Joshi also pointed out that the University Grants Commission has established a transparent regulatory framework that allows foreign universities to set up campuses in India. He confirmed that applications from leading institutions in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, and Italy are being processed with high efficiency, often receiving clearance within a single month. The conclave concluded with a call to view the Study in India initiative as an open invitation for mutually beneficial global partnerships.
