Bhubaneswar: In a swift response to an accident near the Palaspalli over bridge today, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) demonstrated that public service is as much about empathy as it is about mobility. When an Ama Bus, heading back to its depot after a trip cancellation, was involved in a collision with an elderly cyclist, the organization moved with a sense of urgency that went beyond mere protocol.
Field officials reached the scene within minutes, ensuring the injured man was not left waiting. They coordinated an immediate ambulance transfer to the hospital, prioritizing his health above all else.
The human element of the crisis was further highlighted when Managing Director CRUT Shri Sadiq Alam, recognized by many as a leader with a deeply compassionate approach, arrived at the hospital personally.
He spent time with the victim and his family, offering not just the assurance of full medical coverage and a 50,000 rupee compensation package, but the comfort of a presence that cared.
To ensure the family never feels alone during the recovery process, Shri Alam has stationed dedicated officials on a 24-hour roster at the hospital. This round-the-clock support system reflects a commitment to the individual that stays firm long after the initial headlines fade.
However, the day was not without its shadows. In the heat of the moment, unidentified individuals vandalized the bus, shattering the windscreen and side panels.
CRUT MD Shri Alam has reminded the community that these buses are shared assets meant to serve everyone, appealing for calm and restraint even in moments of high emotion.
While an internal Accident Inquiry Committee has been formed to investigate any potential negligence, the focus remains squarely on the well-being of the injured cyclist.
For CRUT and its leadership, the goal is to ensure that while the wheels of urban transport keep moving, the safety and dignity of every citizen remain the true priority.
