Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi delivered a spirited reply to the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address today, February 19, 2026, despite persistent disruptions from opposition benches.
Addressing the House, the Chief Minister characterized Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati’s speech as a visionary and people-centric roadmap that sets a clear trajectory for the state’s development. He emphasized his administration’s goal of transforming Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047, aligning with the national vision of a developed India.
During his address, Shri Majhi sharply criticized the Biju Janata Dal and Congress for their conduct in the House. He accused the opposition of choosing slogans and walkouts over constructive debate, describing their behavior as regrettable and unconvincing.
Contrasting his government’s approach with the previous regime, the Chief Minister reiterated a commitment to transparency and stated that the administration is fully prepared to answer all legislative questions if the opposition allows the House to function.
In addition to his reply on the Governor’s address, the Chief Minister provided written and oral information on several other key issues. He informed the Assembly that the government has initiated licensing for adventure tourism along the Puri-Konark Marine Drive and remains actively engaged in ministerial-level talks with Chhattisgarh to resolve the Mahanadi water dispute.
Despite these statements, the legislative session was ultimately adjourned for the day due to the ongoing protests regarding paddy procurement.
