Bhubaneswar: Ace Mandarin, Md.Sadique Alam brings a wealth of administrative experience to his new role as Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Public Enterprises Department.
Known for his proactive approach and expertise in industrial and economic governance, Shree Alam, an IAS Officer of 2010 Batch has previously served in several key positions within the State Government, including a successful tenure as the Director of Industries. His background in managing industrial growth and streamlining departmental operations as well as Public Sector Organizations is expected to play a pivotal role in the modernization of state enterprises.
Upon assuming charge on February 7, 2026, Shree Alam conducted an extensive review session with departmental officials. He stressed the importance of updating the Corporate Governance Manual to align with contemporary industrial standards, ensuring that State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) remain competitive.
His vision focuses on moving beyond traditional oversight toward a model of active financial strengthening and long-term profitability for these institutions.
To facilitate this transition, Shree Alam instructed the department to expedite the creation of a talent pool for Independent Directors and streamline the recruitment process for Executive Directors. He highlighted that professional leadership is essential for achieving the milestones set under the State Government’s Vision 2036 and Vision 2047.
By fostering a culture of teamwork and transparency, Shree Alam aims to transform the Public Enterprises Department into a primary driver of the state’s economic resilience.
