B B Harichandan’s Books Launched

Bhubaneswar: In a significant confluence of leadership and literature, the unveiling of two pivotal books authored by the veteran statesman Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan generated huge appreciation. The ceremony was graced by the Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, and the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, who jointly released the works in the presence of an esteemed gathering of scholars and cultural dignitaries.

The first volume, E Mati Katha Kahe, is a poignant collection of essays in Odia that serves as a tribute to the land and its heritage. The title itself suggests a deep-rooted connection to the soil of Odisha, exploring the historical milestones and the cultural evolution of the state through the author’s unique lens. The essays are expected to provide the younger generation with a clearer understanding of the ethical and social fabric that defines the region.

The second book, titled Bakshi Jagabandhu: The Great Commander, is an English work that aims to bring national and international attention to the 1817 Paika Rebellion. By chronicling the life and strategic brilliance of Bakshi Jagabandhu, Shri Harichandan seeks to reassert the rebellion’s place in history as one of the earliest organized armed struggles against British colonial rule. Chief Minister Shri Majhi remarked during the launch that such literature is essential for reclaiming regional narratives and honoring the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle.

Governor Dr. Kambhampati lauded the author’s prolific nature, noting that despite a life spent in the demanding corridors of power, Shri Harichandan has never allowed his creative and intellectual pursuits to take a back seat. The event highlighted a shared commitment among the leaders to promote the Odia language and its historical legacy, ensuring that the stories of valor and cultural pride are documented with scholarly rigor.

The entire program was organized flawlessly by Shri Prithiviraj Harichandan, Minister Works, Law and Excise, the worthy son of Shri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, which received wide applause.
