Odisha Credit Potential: ₹3.15L Cr

Bhubaneswar: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has projected a priority sector credit potential of 3.15 lakh crore for Odisha for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The projection was released in the State Focus Paper during the State Credit Seminar 2026-27 chaired by Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg, held in Bhubaneswar on February 3, 2026. Principal Secretary Finance, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra was present in the seminar.

The credit potential highlights MSMEs as the largest share at 1.52 lakh crore, followed by the agriculture sector at 1.14 lakh crore. The remaining potential is distributed among housing, education, renewable energy, social infrastructure, and export credit.

Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg, who chaired the seminar, emphasized the importance of credit in achieving the Vision 2036 goal of becoming a developed state and reaching a USD 1.5 trillion economy by 2047. She called on banks to support the transition of SHGs into SMEs and farmers into agripreneurs, while specifically addressing the missing middle in the MSME sector.

Principal Secretary Finance, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, noted the need for balanced regional development, urging banks to increase credit dissemination in tribal and disadvantaged regions.

Additionally, the Regional Director of the RBI urged banks to adopt these projections into the state’s Annual Credit Plan. NABARD CGM V K Arya noted that Odisha’s diverse agro-ecology and recent economic development provide significant opportunities for credit growth in the priority sector.
