Bhubaneswar: In a solemn tribute to those who laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom, Saheed Divas was observed today at Lokseva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

This day, also known as Martyrs’ Day, serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and unsung heroes who fought for India’s independence. The occasion is marked by a nationwide moment of reflection to honor the memory of those who prioritized the sovereignty of the country over their own lives.

To mark this significant day, a two-minute silence was observed at precisely 11:00 AM. The gathering was led by Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg, alongside Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Shri Deoranjan Kumar Singh, and Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department Shri Surendra Kumar, Principal Secretary Finance, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, other Principal Secretaries, officials, and staff members from different departments also joined the congregation to pay their respects.

The ceremony, coordinated by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government of Odisha, emphasized the collective gratitude of the state administration toward the immortal martyrs. The event concluded with the silent prayer as a mark of deep respect for the legacy of the independence struggle.
