Bhubaneswar: In an effort to fortify industrial security and professional standards, the state hosted a pivotal training program on January 22, 2026, specifically designed for the safe handling of boilers by engaged certified boiler operators. This session acted as a high-level forum to address the technical complexities and inherent risks associated with high-pressure thermal systems in the manufacturing sector.
Shri Indramani Tripathy, Director of Factories and Boilers, led the proceedings as the chief guest, reinforcing the message that factory safety is the primary pillar of a resilient economy. He stressed that the specialized knowledge of certified operators is the first line of defense against industrial mishaps.
Shri Tripathy, who is also Commissioner Labour, Odisha called for a shift in mindset where safety protocols are treated as life-saving habits rather than mere administrative burdens.

Dr. Malay Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director of Safety, played a key role in the technical deliberations. He highlighted that the margin for error in heavy industrial environments is virtually nonexistent. His sessions focused on hazard identification and the integration of modern monitoring technologies to prevent catastrophic failures. The workshop facilitated a sophisticated transfer of knowledge between technical experts from major industrial entities, such as IOCL Paradip Refinery and Aditya Aluminium, and the participating operators.
Dr.Pradhan provided insights into the modern challenges of maintaining large-scale industrial boilers. He emphasized that the continuous evolution of technology requires operators to stay updated on digital monitoring and preventative maintenance strategies. The discussions underscored that the collective vigilance of the workforce, guided by expert leadership, is essential for maintaining an environment where productivity and worker well-being coexist.
The gathering brought together experts from various sectors to share best practices, ensuring that the state’s industrial operations align with the highest global safety benchmarks. By focusing on the nuances of equipment pressure and thermal stability, the workshop aimed to eliminate the root causes of operational failures.
The program concluded with a focus on empowering safety committees to serve as a vital link between management and the shop floor. By enhancing the skill sets of certified operators in real-time risk assessment and emergency response, the state aims to set a global benchmark for worker security as Odisha continues to expand its industrial footprint.
