bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has inaugurated the state level Matsya Prani Samabesh 2026 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar marking a significant milestone for the fisheries and animal resources sector in Odisha. Minister Fisheries & ARD and MSME, Shri Gokulananda Mallick graced the occasion.
The three day event themed innovative interventions in fisheries and livestock for Viksit Odisha aims to empower farmers and entrepreneurs through modern technology and sustainable practices.
During the visit of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi to exhibition center, Director of Fisheries Md Sadiq Alam presented a detailed report on the current fishing sector scenario in the state.
Shri Alam highlighted the remarkable progress Odisha has made in fish production and export noting that the state currently ranks fourth in the country for fish production. The presentation outlined strategic initiatives taken to boost inland and marine output which have significantly contributed to the rural economy.
Chief Minister Shri Majhi expressed his deep satisfaction with the growth and transformation of the fisheries sector. He lauded the efforts of the department and the fishing community for their dedication to making the state self reliant.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is committed to doubling the income of fishers and livestock farmers through various welfare schemes including the recently launched Chief Ministers Kamadhenu Yojana and the Chief Ministers Fishermen Welfare Scheme.
The event features over two hundred stalls showcasing the latest aquatic technologies live fish demonstrations and interactive sessions with scientists. Thousands of farmers from across the state have gathered to share experiences and learn about cage culture bio floc technology and advanced aquaculture systems.
Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Shri Gokulananda Mallik along with other senior officials attended the ceremony which also saw the felicitation of several successful farmers and entrepreneurs for their exemplary achievements in the sector.
