Bhubaneswar: President of the Odisha State Co-operative Bank, Shri T. Prasad Rao Dora is happy with the Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) has been conferred with the prestigious first prize at the national level for its exceptional performance in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
The award was presented during the 13th National Review Conference of PMFBY held in Bengaluru on January 18 and 19. OSCB secured the top position in the category of Large State Cooperative Banks, reflecting its significant role in providing a safety net to the farming community in Odisha.
President of the Odisha State Co-operative Bank, Shri T. Prasad Rao Dora, lauded the dedicated efforts of Team OSCB and highlighted the positive initiatives taken by District Co-operative Banks across the state. He emphasized that the collaborative approach and ground-level engagement of the cooperative network have been vital in helping farmers navigate and access the benefits of crop insurance.
The bank’s efforts were instrumental during the Kharif 2024 season, where it contributed to the enrolment of over 15 lakh farmers out of a state total of 22.41 lakh. This coverage included both loanee and non-loanee farmers, ensuring a wide reach of crop insurance benefits. The momentum continued into the Rabi 2024–25 season, with the cooperative banking sector facilitating the enrolment of over 1 lakh farmers.
The award was formally handed over in Bhubaneswar to Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, in the presence of senior officials from the Cooperation and Agriculture departments.
OSCB President Shri T. Prasad Rao Dora noted that this recognition underscores the successful synergy between the Agriculture and Cooperation departments in Odisha.
The achievement highlights the OSCB’s commitment to stabilizing farmer incomes and encouraging the adoption of modern agricultural practices through robust financial protection against unforeseen crop losses.
