Boudh: In a focused effort toward enhancing grassroots infrastructure in Odisha, Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, the Chairman and Managing Director of MGM Group and President of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), completed an extensive tour of Boudh and Sonepur districts this week. The visit was marked by the inauguration of several projects designed to empower local youth through modern education and sports.
On 18 January 2026, Shri Mohanty inaugurated the MGM Mini Science Center, a new Computer Lab, and a dedicated Library at St. Xavier’s Public School in Boudh. This initiative aims to bridge the digital and scientific divide for students in the region, providing them with tools to foster curiosity and technical literacy.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including District Magistrate Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, Additional District Magistrate, and the Chairman of the school.
Shri Mohanty, recognized for his philanthropic commitment to child welfare, emphasized that access to quality scientific infrastructure is essential for the holistic development of students in rural districts.
The following day, 19 January 2026, the focus shifted to the promotion of sports as Shri Mohanty graced the inauguration of the Lalmony Cricketfest 2026.
As the President of the OCA, his presence underscored a commitment to identifying and nurturing cricketing talent outside major urban hubs. The event saw participation from key regional figures, including the MLA of Biramaharajpur, the District Collector, and the Superintendent of Police for Sonepur, alongside members of the Sonepur District Cricket Association (DCA).
Throughout the tour, Shri Mohanty engaged with local educational and sports bodies to assess needs and encourage community participation. These visits are part of a broader vision by the MGM Group and the OCA to ensure that districts like Boudh and Sonepur are integrated into the state’s growing map of excellence in education and athletics.
