Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has issued a strict direction regarding the conduct of State Government operations on the occasion of the New Year. While extending his warm greetings and best wishes to the public, the Chief Minister has emphasized the maintenance of administrative decorum and uninterrupted public service.
The Chief Minister’s Office has clarified that as the first day of the year falls on an official working day, 1 January 2026 is Thursday. The CMO and all other State Government departments will function as per their regular schedules.
In a move to prioritize efficiency and official duty, the Chief Minister has requested that citizens and officials refrain from visiting the CMO or other senior officers personally for the purpose of New Year greetings.
To ensure that State Government premises remain dedicated to their primary administrative functions, a strict prohibition has been placed on any form of organized celebration.
The directive specifically bans meetings, banquets, parties, or large gatherings within the premises of State Government offices and institutions.
While personal courtesy calls are permitted, the State Administration has been instructed to ensure that these do not evolve into celebratory events that could hinder the workflow.
All Heads of Offices and State Institutions have been formally instructed to enforce these regulations strictly. The order underscores a commitment to a professional work culture, ensuring that the transition into the New Year does not disrupt the delivery of government services to the people of Odisha.
