Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to grace the official parade route in New Delhi this Republic Day with a tableau centered on the theme Mantra of Prosperity, Self-Reliant India.
This presentation illustrates the state’s significant contributions toward the national goal of indigenous production and economic independence, bridging the gap between traditional agriculture and cutting-edge semiconductor technology.
The tableau offers a comprehensive look at how Odisha leverages its natural resources, human capital, and innovation to drive social and economic progress.
The design of the tableau follows a symbolic journey that begins with the front section shaped like the chariot of Lord Jagannath, which serves as a tribute to gender equality and the empowerment of women within the state.
As the display moves to the middle portion, it highlights the success of Koraput Coffee, a symbol of sustainable livelihoods and agricultural excellence that has gained international recognition.
This transition leads into the state’s modern industrial achievements, specifically showcasing the manufacturing of advanced silicon semiconductor chips and sophisticated electronic products.
At the rear, the tableau features a grand replica of the Konark Sun Temple, representing the timeless artistic heritage and architectural brilliance of Odisha.
The entire structure is adorned with Sambalpuri fabric and decorated with traditional tribal paintings and intricate silver filigree work, reflecting the deep cultural identity and handicraft traditions of the region.
To add a dynamic element to the presentation, performers will execute the Chaiti Ghoda folk dance on both sides of the float. This traditional dance, which dates back to the 16th century, will be used to narrate Odisha’s role in building a self-reliant India through rhythm and movement.
The selection of this tableau follows a rigorous five-phase review process by an expert committee from the Ministry of Defence. This year’s inclusion follows the success of the 2024 tableau, which secured first place nationally for its portrayal of women’s empowerment through handlooms and handicrafts.
