Pradhan Hails Sambalpuri heritage

Sambalpur: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the global impact of Odisha’s cultural heritage while addressing the National Sambalpuri Conference. The Minister paid tribute to Padmashree Krutartha Acharya, noting that his contributions have significantly enriched the handloom industry and brought worldwide recognition to Sambalpuri textiles. He emphasized that the dedication of such individuals has made the region’s art and culture a source of international pride.

During his address, the Minister pointed to the architectural significance of the Hirakud Dam and the various Sambalpuri temples as enduring witnesses to the region’s glorious history. He specifically mentioned the ancient rock art found in Bheemanandali, which dates back nearly ten thousand years. This site is currently under active research by the Archaeological Survey of India to uncover further details about its prehistoric origins.

Minister Pradhan stated that the National Sambalpuri Conference serves as a vital platform for promoting these cultural and historical assets. The event also featured insights from other prominent leaders, including Redhakhol MLA Prasanna Acharya and Sambalpur MLA Jay Narayan Mishra, both of whom spoke on the importance of preserving and advancing the local heritage.
