Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed various programs of the Health and Family Welfare Department at Lok Seva Bhawan today.
In this meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the redevelopment work of Cuttack Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College. As the largest medical college in the state, thousands of patients and their relatives visit here every day. The state government has set a goal to develop this medical college as a world-class medical college. For this, the meeting discussed the parking facilities required.
The meeting was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Saswat Mishra, PS to CM Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, Secretary, Health & FW, Smt. Aswati S., Director, National Health Mission Dr. Brinda D and other senior officials of the Health Department.
It was informed from the meeting that a multi-level parking facility with 17 floors (G+16) will be developed in an area of 6.51 acres at SCB Medical College. The parking facility can be used by patients and attendants coming to both SCB and Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital. This building will have parking facilities up to 12 floors and administrative block, anatomy block, B. Pharma and D. Pharma College etc. will be functional in the attached floors.
Along with this, indoor games, swimming pool facilities will also be made available to keep the medical students stress-free. It is worth noting that the National Education Policy 2020 has suggested making various arrangements to keep the children stress-free. The Chief Minister has directed the department to prepare a DP for this soon. Thirteen housing towers are under construction near SCB. In which 672 residential units and hostel facilities are being provided for 2,244 students. The Chief Minister discussed this project in detail and directed the Chief Minister to complete its construction work as soon as possible. Along with this, the redevelopment work of Berhampur and Burla Medical Colleges was discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister suggested that the Panikoili Trauma Care Centre be made operational at the earliest, in PPP mode. He said that the Central Government PSUs with experience in hospital management should be given priority in this area, and if necessary, the private sector should also be involved in this. Along with this, the meeting discussed the construction of rest houses for attendants in the government medical college campuses in Cuttack, Berhampur, Burla, Sundargarh, Koraput, Baripada and Balangir.
