Cuttack: The historic Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack added a new chapter to its legacy today with the inauguration of the Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy Kaksha, a dedicated Debate and Knowledge Center designed to foster intellectual growth and dialogue among students. The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, an eminent alumnus of the school who also conceptualized the project to enhance the educational environment of his alma mater.
Shri Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, attended the ceremony as a distinguished guest. The establishment of this center was made possible through the collective contributions and efforts of the school’s alumni association, reflecting a strong commitment to the institution’s continued progress.
The new hall serves as more than just a gathering space; it functions as a comprehensive resource hub. It features an extensive library housing books across diverse academic disciplines. A significant highlight of the collection is a dedicated section containing the complete literary and philosophical works of Dr. Satpathy, providing students with direct access to his intellectual contributions.
Ravenshaw Collegiate School, established in 1851 by Thomas Edward Ravenshaw, holds the distinction of being one of the oldest and most prestigious heritage schools in Odisha. Over its long history, the institution has shaped the lives of many prominent figures. Dr. Satpathy’s personal connection to the school dates back to his early childhood education there. His ongoing dedication to the school community is well known, particularly through his initiation of the annual Laddu Diwas tradition and his consistent support for various developmental projects.
The Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy Kaksha stands as a modern tribute to the school’s heritage, aiming to provide a platform where the next generation of leaders can engage in thoughtful exchange and pursue academic excellence in a setting that honors the past while looking toward the future.
