Tripathy Stresses Safe Practices

Bhubaneswar: Shri Indramani Tripathy, Director, Factories and Boilers, Odisha today emphasized the critical need for safe working practices to effectively reduce accidents in factories across the state.

Shri Tripathy, who is also Commissioner of Labour Odisha, his address was the highlight of a one-day training workshop organized to strengthen the role of safety officers in promoting a secure workplace environment.

The workshop, held at the Institute Conference Hall, was a collaborative effort by the Directorate of Factories and Boilers with the support of the State Labour and ESI Department, and in accordance with an agreement with the State Institute of Labour.

The primary goal was to enhance the active role of safety officers in hazard detection, the safe use of equipment, and overall accident prevention.

Chief Guest, Shri Tripathy noted that the safety standards achieved by the state’s best offices should serve as a practical example. He urged the accredited safety officers to follow this precedent to operate their offices “more safely, successfully and effectively.”

His focus remained squarely on leveraging proactive safety measures to ensure worker well-being and industrial productivity.

Dr. Malay Kumar Pradhan, Workshop Coordinator and Deputy Director (Safety), underscored the value of the training, stating it was a significant step in enabling workers to adopt “conscious and safe working practices,” which is crucial for reducing accidents over the long term.

The day concluded with the distribution of certificates to 50 accredited safety officers who successfully completed the specialized training.

The initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing priority to enhance worker safety and foster safer workplaces across the state’s industrial sector.
