Bhubaneswar: The four players from Odisha who were part of the Indian team that won the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup were felicitated today by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi at his residence.
Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shri Suryavanshi Suraj, Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Director Dr. Yedula Vijay, team coach Shri Debashish Jena, and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
The Indian women’s blind cricket team recently clinched the title after a thrilling final against Nepal in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The four triumphant players from the state are Phul Soren from Balasore, Parvati Marndi from Mayurbhanj, Yamunarani Tudu, and Basanti Hansda.
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi honored the world champions and presented each player with a cash prize of Rs. 11 lakh through a cheque.
The Chief Minister praised the players for their strong determination and outstanding performance in the World Cup. He stated that the players have brought glory to the country and the state by excelling in sports through their hard work and dedication.
Shri Majhi opined that they have become an inspiration for every Odia and advised the players to continue this victorious journey with confidence.
