Sundar Madhaba Padhi Gets IAS

Bhubaneswar: Shri Sundar Madhaba Padhi, a dedicated civil engineer from the 2002 batch, has been elevated to the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre. Shri Padhi is currently serving as the Chief Construction Engineer (CCE) for Khordha.

The Government of India today announced the appointment of Shri Padhi of the Non-State Civil Service (NSCS) of Odisha to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), allocating him to the Odisha Cadre. Another NSCS Officer Shrimati Smita Pani has also been appointed to IAS Cadre.

The official notification, issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training), was dated November 28, 2025.

A native of the Ganjam district, Shri Padhi has built a career spanning more than two decades, consistently demonstrating his abilities as an honest and hardworking engineer.

His dedication and competence were notably highlighted during his tenure with the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC), where he played a pivotal role in the prestigious Shree Jagannath Heritage Corridor project, officially known as the Shree Mandir Parikrama.

This transformative project is a key component of the state’s ambitious plan to develop Puri into an international heritage city, significantly enhancing its spiritual importance and the overall experience for visitors.

Reflecting on his achievement, Shri Padhi humbly attributes his success in joining the IAS to the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
