Bhubaneswar: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) is gearing up to host the Eastern India Clean Energy Summit 2025 on Wednesday, November 19, in Bhubaneswar, a landmark event aimed at accelerating the region’s transition to a low-carbon economy. The summit is being organized in partnership with the Department of Energy, Government of Odisha.
Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Chairman of the Odisha State Development Council ASSOCHAM, sources said that the Summit will bring renewed focus to Eastern India’s critical role in the nation’s energy transition. It is emphasized that the region, with its rising industrial demand, vast renewable potential, and growing ambition for green growth, truly holds the key to India’s low-carbon future.
The summit, organized by ASSOCHAM, convened policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders with the shared goal of building a resilient, competitive, and net-zero Eastern India. ASSOCHAM highlights the significance of the event in translating regional potential into concrete action.
Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who heads the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, will join as the Chief Guest. A senior Industry Observer noted that the Deputy Chief Minister’s presence will underscore the State’s increasingly vital role in shaping the future of renewables, hydrogen, hydropower, green mobility, and sustainable industry for the region. The summit’s agenda was built around accelerating industrial decarbonization and leveraging innovative financing to unlock the region’s immense potential.
Discussions at the day-long conference will center on five core areas critical to the energy transition: Renewable Energy Leadership, focusing on maximizing solar, wind, and pumped storage potential to deliver stable, 24/7 power. Developing the Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Economy, a vital step for decarbonizing heavy industries like steel, mining, and chemicals. Implementing Smart Grids and Advanced Storage solutions to ensure power network resilience and efficiency.
Accelerating Green Mobility by promoting electric vehicles and hydrogen-powered heavy transport. Unlocking Green Finance and encouraging industrial net-zero transitions, including pilots for Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS).
The summit is designed to facilitate dialogue on policies, incentives, and regulatory frameworks necessary to attract domestic and global capital, ultimately positioning Odisha and Eastern India as a major hub for clean energy innovation and sustainable growth.
