Bhubaneswar: In a move to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful environment for voters and maintain cleanliness in the Nuapada by-election, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, Shri R.S. Gopalan briefed the Media today on important guidelines concerning the “silence period.”
The press conference was held at the Chief Electoral Officer’s Media Centre in the presence of key officials, including Additional Chief Electoral Officer and Special Secretary Shri Sushant Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary Shri Pramod Sahu, and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahu.
CEO Shri Gopalan detailed the guidelines that are in effect during the silence period, which precedes the voting day. This period, generally known as the silence period, is crucial for allowing voters to reflect without undue influence. He provided specific information on restrictions concerning public meetings, campaigning, and media coverage during this time.
Shri Gopalan also addressed various queries raised by the Media persons related to the arrangements and specific issues concerning the Nuapada by-election, emphasizing the measures being taken to strictly implement the model code of conduct and ensure high voter turnout.
