Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today inaugurated the 150th state-level program for the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ at Lok Seva Bhavan, emphasizing that the song is more than just a melody; it is a profound symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and bravery. He noted that the song, which originated from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel ‘Ananda Math’, was instrumental in igniting consciousness, enthusiasm, and a revolutionary spirit among Indians during the freedom struggle.
The Chief Minister participated in the inauguration ceremony and the collective singing of Vande Mataram, which was joined virtually by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Delhi.

In his address, Shri Majhi highlighted the song’s immense power, citing the British rulers’ decision to ban Vande Mataram as clear evidence of its popularity and influence. He stressed that irrespective of language, religion, or region, national progress is unattainable without patriotism, and Vande Mataram acts as a catalyst for patriotic fervor. He stated that this year-long celebration is essential for fostering patriotism among the youth, children, and students.
The Chief Minister spoke of the far-reaching impact of the collective singing of Vande Mataram across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, especially on students and youth, which he believes will redefine nationalism in the coming days. He announced that over the next year, plans are in place for collective singing, cultural events, and awareness programs across all districts through schools, colleges, and both government and private organizations.
Shri Majhi urged everyone to participate in the year-long program that commenced today and to commit themselves to spreading the glory of Mother India globally.
