Widow Slams BJD

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is facing scrutiny ahead of the Nuapada bypoll following serious allegations from Shrimati Kalpana Dholakia, the widow of late BJD leader Rajendra Dholakia. She claims the party failed to respect her husband’s legacy and abandoned him during his final illness.

According to Kalpana Dholakia, Rajendra Dholakia dedicated 24 years of his life to the BJD but did not receive the respect he earned. She stated that during his illness, no BJD leader reached out or offered support, a lack of concern that she believes deeply affected him and contributed to his passing.

Her remarks have intensified political debate as the bypoll approaches, challenging the party’s internal culture and raising questions about its treatment of long-serving members facing personal crises.

She also criticized the insensitive use of her family’s name in political campaigns and dismissed allegations that her husband changed political allegiance for monetary gain, clarifying that any such decisions were made in the interest of development.

Kalpana Dholakia’s statement has resonated widely, bringing a personal and emotional dimension to the political discourse. It highlights the importance of compassion within party structures and has sparked conversations about ethical leadership and empathy in politics, urging parties to reflect on their treatment of their dedicated members.
