China Secures TT Crown

Bhubaneswar: China has reaffirmed its absolute supremacy in Asian table tennis, completing a commanding title double at the 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championship 2025. Following the women’s team’s triumph earlier in the day, the Chinese men’s team delivered a clinical performance to sweep Hong Kong (China) 3-0 in the final at the Kalinga Stadium on Wednesday, claiming their 25th continental crown.

The victory capped an incredible run for the Chinese men, who had to survive a heart-stopping 3-2 comeback against Japan in the semi-finals a day earlier. In the final, however, they were all business, dropping only a single game across the three rubbers.

World No. 2 Lin Shidong set the tone by dispatching Wong Chun Ting in straight games (11-8, 11-4, 11-4). Top-ranked Wang Chuqin then battled through a tighter contest against the in-form Chan Baldwin, prevailing 3-1 (12-10, 11-9, 5-11, 14-12) to double China’s lead.

The final stroke of victory belonged to Liang Jingkun, who sealed the championship with a dominant 3-0 win (13-11, 11-6, 12-10) over Yiu Kwan To.

The remarkable double victory—with the women’s team defeating Japan 3-0 in their final—underscores the depth of China’s talent and their continued legacy in the sport, ensuring the table tennis powerhouse will head to the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships in London as undisputed favourites.

The 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championship was held in Bhubaneswar, India, from October 11 to 15, 2025.
