Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Tourism Roadmap will focus on the national twin strategies of Destination Development and Destination Management, following the conclusion of the two-day State Tourism Ministers’ Meet in Udaipur on October 15.
The key takeaway for Odisha is its integration into the Centre’s ambitious plan for the “Development of 50 Destinations,” which emphasizes private sector-led tourism hub development across the country. This initiative is a core component of the Prime Minister’s vision for “One State: One Global Destination,” requiring each state to showcase one potential destination for globally-benchmarked development.
The meeting provided a platform for Odisha’s senior officials to consult on draft frameworks, including Performance Linked Incentives (PLI), aimed at attracting private investment and fostering high standards of destination management—areas directly aligned with the state’s existing Odisha Tourism Policy 2022.
By leveraging its strengths in Beach, Eco-, Buddhist, and Heritage Tourism, Odisha will now work to align its identified destination(s) with the national mission, focusing on improving infrastructure, enhancing accessibility, and promoting sustainable, community-managed experiences to become a globally competitive tourism hub.
