Sundargarh: Dr. Pukhraj Nenival, Controller of Mines for the East Zone of the Indian Bureau of Mines, along with Shri Rohita Sethi, Assistant Controller of Mines for the Bhubaneswar Region, inspected the Patabeda Iron Mines of MGM Minerals Ltd. on October 10, 2025. The mines are situated in Patabeda village, under Koira tehsil of the Sundergarh district in Odisha state.
The inspection was conducted under the Mineral Conservation and Development Rules (MCDR). Dr. Nenival and Shri Sethi reviewed the mines’ various practices concerning production, exploration, environmental protection, mineral conservation, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). They also evaluated the CSR work that MGM has carried out in the periphery villages of the mining lease.

As part of the visit, Dr. Nenival took part in several CSR initiatives of MGM Minerals Ltd.. He inaugurated a new computer centre at the Government UG High School in Mandajoda village. He also distributed study materials to students at the school under the company’s CSR program.
Additionally, Dr. Nenival handed over residential buildings to beneficiaries in Patabeda village as part of MGM Minerals Ltd.’s housing and rural development CSR initiatives.

He also virtually inaugurated a Mini Science Centre at the Government UG High School in Sarashposh, which is in the Koira block of Sundergarh district.
To promote environmental protection, Dr. Nenival planted a mango sapling alongside Shri Sethi and other company officials during a plantation drive organized by MGM Minerals Ltd. in Patabeda village.

Dr. Nenival and Shri Sethi commended MGM Minerals Ltd. for the initiatives it is taking toward sustainable mining and advised the company to maintain these efforts in the future.
Accompanying the inspecting authorities from MGM Minerals Ltd. were senior officials, including Shri. Himanshu Shekhar Pattanayak, Senior General Manager of Mines; Shri Chaturbhuja Sahoo, Senior Deputy General Manager of Mines; Shri. Manas Kumar Patra, Senior Manager of Geology; and Shri Y. R. Obaleish, Odisha Head of TEIPL (MDO).
