Bhubaneswar: The Capital City of Odisha is buzzing with anticipation as it prepares to host the 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships, starting on Saturday, October 11, at the Athletics Centre of the Kalinga Stadium.
State Government has made all arrangements and robust infrastructure is in place. The meticulous organization and planning for the tournament are being led by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, President of the Odisha State Table Tennis Association.
Shri Singh, Principal Secretary Works, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Welfare, is heading the preparations from the front, demonstrating the state government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a smooth and successful event on the international stage.
Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Secretary Sports & Youth Services has taken all necessary steps to make this event most successful one.
Development Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary, Smt.Anu Garg is happy over the arrangements and has lauded efforts of Shri Singh and Shri Jadhav.
Minister for Sports & Youth Services, Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, officially unveiled the Championship Trophy and ceremonially flagged off the TT Canter, a mobile awareness vehicle.
The TT Canter is a key promotional tool designed to tour the city and engage the public, carrying the excitement and buzz of the continental championship to the local community.
The tournament, which runs until October 15, is a significant event for the state, as it marks the first time Odisha is hosting an Asian-level table tennis competition. The championship will feature nearly 500 participants, including players and support staff from 22 nations, with top teams like China, Japan, and South Korea vying for honours. Critically, the event also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships.
Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj reiterated the state’s pride, stating that the seamless organization of this international event simultaneously with the 40th National Junior Athletics Championships underscores Odisha’s rising capability as a major sports destination in India.
With all arrangements in place, from world-class playing infrastructure to accommodation, the stage is now perfectly set for Asia’s finest paddlers to compete for glory starting tomorrow.
