IGNOU To Open In Rairangpur

Bhubaneswar: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced the establishment of a new regional centre in Rairangpur, located in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, as part of a significant initiative to bolster higher education access in the state.

Professor Uma Kanjilal, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, paid a courtesy visit to the University’s Visitor, the Honorable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.

The upcoming Rairangpur regional centre is slated to coordinate IGNOU’s higher education activities across five districts: Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Dash, Senior Regional Director of the IGNOU Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar, confirmed the development. Previously, the IGNOU programs in these five districts were managed by the Bhubaneswar Regional Centre. Dr. Dash stated that the new centre will enable IGNOU to more effectively reach out to students in the area.

Currently, Odisha operates three functional IGNOU regional centres: Bhubaneswar, Koraput, and Angul.

Established by an Act of the Indian Parliament, IGNOU is dedicated to providing quality higher education at affordable prices across the country, fulfilling its core mission.

The university’s courses have been particularly beneficial for various groups, including underprivileged sections, working professionals, housewives, and aspiring students.
