Bhubaneswar: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University has reaffirmed its position as a leading research institution with 41 of its researchers making it to the prestigious Stanford University’s list of the world’s top 2 per cent scientists for 2025. This achievement marks a significant increase from the 32 scientists featured on the same list in 2024.
The Stanford list is a respected global ranking that evaluates researchers based on their career-long impact and recent single-year influence. It provides a comprehensive analysis across various scientific disciplines.
The 41 scientists from SOA are a testament to the university’s multidisciplinary research focus. The list includes 23 researchers from the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), the university’s faculty of engineering and technology. Additionally, 11 scientists are from the university’s specialized research centers, four from pharmaceutical sciences, two from medical sciences, and one from agricultural sciences.
Several prominent figures from the university are among those recognized. The list features Prof. Pradipta Kumar Dash, former Director of the Multi-Disciplinary Research Cell, and Prof. (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, an eminent neurosurgeon and Principal Advisor (Health Sciences), both of whom previously served as the university’s Vice-Chancellors. Other notable names include directors of key research centers, such as Prof. Kulamani Parida (Centre for Nano Sciences and Nano Technology) and Prof. Lala Behari Sukla (Bio-fuels Bio-processing Research Center).
SOA’s recognition by Stanford adds to its growing list of laurels. The Deemed to be University was recently ranked 15th in the country among higher education institutions by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2025, further highlighting its commitment to academic and research excellence.
