Sambalpur: In a move to bring governance closer to the people, a joint grievance hearing was conducted at Jujumura Block on September 16, 2025. The session, led by Sambalpur Collector Shri Siddheshwar Baliram Bonder and Superintendent of Police (SP) Shri Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo, focused on a “pro-people” approach, addressing public concerns and distributing welfare benefits to local beneficiaries.
The initiative is part of the State Government’s directive for District Magistrates and SPs to hold joint grievance redressal sessions. However, the sincerity and dedication shown by Collector Shri Bonder went beyond mere compliance.
Throughout the hearing, they was seen actively listening to the issues raised by the public, ranging from land disputes and infrastructure needs to social security and healthcare. Both DM Shri Bondar and SP Shri Bhamoo were seen empathetic towards the people.
Shri Bondar in particular, emerged as a symbol of compassionate administration. He patiently heard each case, often engaging in direct dialogue with the villagers to understand the root cause of their problems. His presence instilled a sense of trust and confidence among the attendees, many of whom had traveled from remote villages to voice their grievances.
The hearing wasn’t just about listening; it was about action. Alongside the grievance redressal, the officials facilitated the on-the-spot distribution of various welfare benefits. This included assistance for senior citizens, disability support, and financial aid for eligible families under different government schemes. This dual-pronged approach of addressing grievances and delivering services on the same day proved highly effective, demonstrating a commitment to tangible results.
“This is the first time we’ve seen our Collector and SP sitting together and listening to us so closely,” said an elderly villager, visibly moved by the officers’ efforts. “They not only heard our problems but also gave us immediate solutions.”
The successful event at Jujumura Block highlights a model of governance that is both responsive and responsible. By making themselves accessible and proactive, Shri Bonder and Shri Bhamoo are not just fulfilling their duties but are setting a new standard for public service in Sambalpur district. Their commitment is a testament to the belief that the government is truly for the people, by the people.
