Bhubaneswar: Shri Rajendra Dholkia, a veteran Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Nuapada, passed away at the age of 69 after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai.
Shri Dholkia has also served as the Minister of Planning and Convergence for the Government of Odisha from June 5, 2022, to June 11, 2024. and has been a popular personality, known in Western Odisha.
A revered figure in the Nuapada constituency, Shri Dholkia was known for his dedication to development and his gentle demeanor.
He had been ill for several months and that his death sent shockwaves through the political community in Odisha. It also states that arrangements were being made to bring his body back to Odisha for final rites.
BJD veteran Ananga Udaya Singh Deo expressed his condolences on the untimely demise, stating, “He was a my dear man and a development-minded legislator.”
Shri Dholkia had a long and distinguished political career, having been elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly on four separate occasions. His passing is a significant loss to the BJD and the people of Nuapada, who he served with commitment and integrity.
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi condoled his demise. BJD Lawmaker, Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo condoled his death and prayed to Lord Jagannath to give strength to the bereaved family.
