New Delhi: In a strong appeal for public awareness and action against air pollution, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), has supported the “Racing for Clean Air – Every Breath Matters” campaign.
He stressed that renewable energy is the most impactful solution for reducing emissions and improving air quality.
United Nations General Assembly has designated 7 September as the “International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies” with an aim to raise awareness and to promote actions to improve air quality.
Held under the theme “Racing For Air”, the Sixth International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies-2025 will emphasize the need to accelerate solutions and collective action to deliver clean air for all.
Shri Das highlighted IREDA’s crucial role in India’s clean energy transition. The agency, a public sector enterprise, is committed to financing green projects, fostering innovation in the renewable energy sector, and supporting the nation’s clean energy goals.
He stated that this commitment is not only about environmental protection but also about driving the transition towards sustainable growth and achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
“Most of us are breathing polluted air,” Shri Das said, emphasizing the personal and public health crisis posed by air pollution. He called on citizens to join the “race for solutions together,” underscoring the idea that a greener future and blue skies for generations to come depend on collective efforts.
As a key financial institution, IREDA has been instrumental in mobilizing investments for renewable energy projects. This includes a wide array of initiatives, from large-scale solar and wind farms to new technologies like green hydrogen and pumped storage.
By providing financial support, IREDA acts as a catalyst, enabling businesses and developers to bring these projects to life, thereby contributing directly to a cleaner environment and a more sustainable economy.
