Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area that was previously situated over north Odisha and its surrounding regions has weakened and moved west-northwestwards, according to the latest weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). As of 5:30 AM IST today, September 4, 2025, the system has weakened into a low-pressure area and is now centered over north Chhattisgarh and its neighborhood.
Forecasters predict the system will continue its west-northwestward movement, tracking across East Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours. This movement is expected to bring widespread rain to the region.
The IMD has been closely monitoring this weather system, which previously brought heavy rainfall to parts of Odisha, West Bengal, and other areas. The weakening of the system is a significant development, but residents in its new path are advised to remain vigilant as showers and thunderstorms are likely.
