Sikkim, Odisha CMs Meet

Bhubaneswar: Sikkim Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang met with his Odisha counterpart, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, here on Thursday, August 28, to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen inter-state cooperation.

The high-level meeting, held at the Odisha Chief Minister’s official residence, focused on a range of issues, including tourism promotion, cultural exchange, and disaster management.

Both the Chief Ministers, whose states are known for their distinct natural beauty and rich heritage, emphasized the importance of collaboration to boost tourism and economic development.

Sources close to the meeting said that the discussion also touched upon the recent coordination between the two states following a tragic road accident in Sikkim in May, which involved tourists from Odisha.

The leaders reportedly commended the quick response and assistance provided by both the State Administrations during the challenging time.

Chief Minister Shri Tamang, who is on a visit to the state, expressed his gratitude to the Odisha government for its support and proactive measures. Chief Minister Shri Majhi, in turn, reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all tourists visiting Odisha.

The meeting concluded with both leaders agreeing to explore further avenues for collaboration, particularly in promoting sustainable tourism practices and fostering stronger cultural ties between the people of Sikkim and Odisha.
