Bhubaneswar: A persistent low-pressure area over the northeast coast of Odisha, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation, is bringing heavy rainfall to several parts of the state. The cyclonic circulation has reached a height of 7.6 km above sea level and is reported to be moving towards the northeast.

According to meteorological reports, the low-pressure system is expected to continue its influence until 08:30 hrs today, August 27, 2025. Over the next 24 hours, the system is likely to move gradually towards the north-northeast Odisha coast.

In addition, a weather system identified as ‘Monsoon Cyclone Vamana’ is on a projected path towards the region. The cyclone is likely to move towards the north-east Odisha coast via Bakaner, Banali, Damoh, and Pa Rao. Following this, it is expected to shift its course towards the south-east coast of Odisha before heading towards the east-southeast Central Bay of Bengal.
