Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik was reportedly admitted to SUM Ultimate Medicare Hospital here on Sunday after complaining of uneasiness.
According to sources, the veteran leader was shifted to the SUMUM for treatment and observation after he felt unwell.
SUM Ultimate Medicare, Bhubaneswar has issued notification in this regard. Shri Patnaik was admitted at 5:15 PM today due to dehydration. His condition is stable and he is responding well to treatment.
Doctors are said to be closely monitoring his condition, which is reported as stable.
The news of Shri Patnaik’s hospitalization has sparked concern among his supporters and party workers across Odisha, with many gathering outside the hospital to pray for his speedy recovery. Security arrangements have been tightened at the hospital premises in anticipation of visits from political leaders and well-wishers.
This is not the first time the former five-time Chief Minister’s health has been in the news. He recently underwent surgery for cervical arthritis in a private hospital in Mumbai and was discharged on July 7, 2025. He had returned to the state capital after a period of recovery.
