Bengaluru: In a significant development for Odisha cricket, the state’s cricket association president, Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, expressed his delight after a meeting with former India cricketer and current National Cricket Academy (NCA) Director, VVS Laxman.

“Had a pleasant moment with Mr VVS Laxman former International Cricketer now Director National Cricket Academy & BCCI Center of Excellence Bengaluru,” said Mohanty.

This interaction comes as a major fillip to Shri Mohanty’s ongoing efforts to nurture young cricketing talent in the state. As the head of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), and Chief of MGM School of Sports, Shri Mohanty is deeply involved in overseeing various age-group programs, a role that mirrors Shri Laxman’s own focus at the NCA.

Shri Laxman, a celebrated former international cricketer, is directly involved in mentoring young players and his guidance is seen as invaluable.

The meeting underscores the OCA’s push to align with the national cricket board’s vision for talent development. Shri Mohanty also met Shri Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Indian Crickteer at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru.

Shri Mohanty has also been at the forefront of a groundbreaking initiative, with the MGM School of Sports is nurturing young talents in cricket.

MGM School of Sports is set to provide world-class training and infrastructure to aspiring cricketers in Odisha.

With its state-of-the-art facilities and a residential academy, the MGM School of Sports is poised to become a hub for producing the next generation of cricketing stars from the state, with Shri Mohanty leading the charge.
