Bhubaneswar: Roopa Roshan Sahoo, a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2006 batch from the Odisha cadre, has assumed the role of Secretary to the Governor of Odisha today, July 23, 2025.
Her appointment marks another significant step in her extensive career dedicated to public service.
Governor Dr.Hari Babu Kambhampati talked to Smt.Sahoo after she took charge of the Raj Bhawan Secretariat here.
Prior to this new posting, Smt.Sahoo was serving as Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Southern Division. During her tenure she visited all the districts and scaled up development process in these zones.
Earlier she served as Secretary SC ST Development and Special Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office in Bhubaneswar.
Born on January 18, 1980, Smt.Sahoo’s educational background M.A., and M.Phil. in Sociology from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and J.N. University, New Delhi, achieving First Division honors for M.Phil.
Her diverse career portfolio showcases strong leadership in various administrative capacities. Past assignments include serving as District Collector in Sundargarh and Dhenkanal, and as Sub Collector in Koraput. She also gained valuable experience as the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in Koraput, focusing on rural development initiatives.
Smt.Sahoo has actively worked in the field and State Secretariat Administration, which will be helpful for her new role in Raj Bhawan, said a former Secretary to Governor.
