Prez Attends ‘Nabakalebara’Screening

New Delhi: In a moment imbued with profound spiritual and cultural significance, the Odia devotional film “Shree Jagannath Nka Nabakalebara” was screened on 18 July at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. The august occasion was graced by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, underscoring the film’s importance in showcasing Odisha’s rich spiritual heritage.

Inspired by the divine vision and guidance of Gurujee Dr. C.B. Satpathy, the film meticulously portrays the sacred and time-honored ritual of Nabakalebara, a unique and deeply revered tradition associated with Lord Jagannath of Puri. The screening served as a powerful testament to the enduring devotion surrounding the Holy Trinity and the cultural vibrancy of Odisha.

The special event saw the attendance of the film’s Director, Smt. Soubhagyalaxmi Jena, alongside key members of the cast and crew. The presence of Gurujee Dr. C.B. Satpathy added an immeasurable layer of spiritual depth to the occasion.

Director Smt.Jena expressed her profound gratitude to Gurujee, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the film’s narrative and guiding the creative process with unwavering support.

Further enriching the cinematic experience, two devotional songs featured in the film were both written and musically composed by Gurujee Dr. C.B. Satpathy himself. Ace Singer Satyabrata Sahu has given his voice for a song. These compositions infuse an authentic and deeply emotive layer, resonating with the spiritual essence of one of Odisha’s most revered rituals.

“Shree Jagannath Nka Nabakalebara” masterfully blends devotion with a compelling historical narrative. It meticulously traces the origin, tradition, and spiritual depth of the Nabakalebara—the symbolic renewal of the sacred idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra in the Jagannath Temple, Puri.

The film not only serves as a visual chronicle of this extraordinary event but also offers viewers a profound insight into the unwavering faith and cultural practices that define Odia identity. Its screening at such a prestigious venue highlights the national recognition of this unique religio-cultural phenomenon.
