The air was thick with prayers, chants, and an palpable sense of divine presence, marking a truly auspicious prelude to the grand Rath Yatra.
The temple precincts resonated with emotional hymns and the joyful cries of “Jai Jagannath!” as the divine siblings, having recovered from their prolonged illness (Anasara), revealed their youthful, resplendent forms. For thousands of eager devotees, this darshan was a culmination of anxious waiting, a moment of profound spiritual connection that brought tears of joy to many eyes.
The intricate Netrotsav Niti, the ritual of painting the eyes of the deities, was performed with utmost reverence, signifying their full return to health and readiness to embark on their annual sojourn. Adding to the fervor, the three magnificent, newly constructed chariots – Nandighosa, Taladhwaja, and Debadalana – crafted with meticulous devotion at the Rath Khala, were majestically positioned at the Singhadwar (Lion’s Gate). Their towering presence, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant fabrics, stood as a testament to centuries of unwavering faith and craftsmanship.
The seamless coordination of these intricate rituals and arrangements was spearheaded by SJTA Chief Administrator, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee.
