Puri: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today paid a visit to the revered Shree Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri, Puri district, offering prayers and reviewing ongoing development works at the shrine.
The Chief Minister’s visit comes at a significant time, as thousands of devotees are currently thronging the Alarnath Temple for ‘darshan’ of Lord Alarnath during the ‘Anasara’ period of Lord Jagannath in Puri.
As per tradition, during this fortnight-long seclusion of the Puri deities, Lord Alarnath is worshipped as a representative of Lord Jagannath, making the temple a pivotal pilgrimage site.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the progress of the master plan for the temple’s development, which was approved earlier. The plan focuses on enhancing facilities for pilgrims, including improved infrastructure, beautification of the temple complex, and better amenities for both devotees and servitors.
He interacted with temple officials and local administration, emphasizing the importance of timely completion of the projects to ensure a comfortable and spiritually enriching experience for all visitors.
The Alarnath Temple holds immense religious significance, with a history that predates the Jagannath Temple in Puri, and has been visited by prominent saints like Ramanujacharya and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
The state government has been actively undertaking development initiatives for various temples across Odisha, and the Chief Minister’s visit today underscores the commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s rich spiritual heritage.
