New Delhi: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has swiftly moved to address the horrific gang rape incident that occurred recently in Gopalpur, Odisha, by constituting a five-member fact-finding team.
The team, aimed at thoroughly investigating the matter and assessing the broader issue of violence against women in the state, will be convened by senior Congress leader Deepa Dasmunsi.
The incident, which took place on June 15, 2025, during the Raja Sankranti festivities at Gopalpur Beach, involved the gang rape of a female college student by a group of ten youths.
The brutal attack, and the subsequent swift arrest of all ten accused by Gopalpur Police, has sent shockwaves across the state and ignited widespread outrage, leading to protests and demands for stricter safety measures.
The AICC’s fact-finding team comprises a formidable lineup of experienced politicians and public representatives:
