CM Outlines Industrial Future

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today convened a meeting with prominent industry leaders, MSME entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, and start-up sector leaders to mark the upcoming first anniversary of his government. The CM lauded their contributions to Odisha’s growth story, emphasizing the state’s emergence as an industrial hub and its efforts to facilitate access to international markets for local industries.

Shri Majhi highlighted the government’s strong focus on job creation and employment, urging industry captains to collaborate in transforming Odisha into an industrial powerhouse. He reflected on the significant progress made in the past year, noting that the “Utkarsha Odisha” event, graced by the Prime Minister, was highly successful, leading to 150 MoUs worth ₹16.7 lakh Crore and an employment potential of over 12.9 lakh jobs.

The Chief Minister revealed that 206 large projects, nearly double the average of the previous five years, have been approved in the last year, representing over ₹4.5 lakh Crore in investment and nearly 2.9 lakh potential jobs. Furthermore, 56 projects with a combined investment of over ₹1.78 lakh Crore and employment potential for 1.1 lakh people have already seen groundbreaking or inauguration since “Utkarsha Odisha.”

Shri Majhi emphasized that this growth spans 20 diverse sectors, including traditional strengths like mining and metallurgy, and emerging opportunities in chemicals, food processing, apparel, textiles, renewable energy equipment, electronics, and tourism, positioning Odisha as a diversified industrial powerhouse.

Looking ahead, the CM outlined four key priorities for the next year:

  1. Introducing new policies for emerging sectors with global competitiveness.
  2. Expanding land banks and industrial infrastructure.
  3. Revamping the single-window system and developing an integrated project tracking platform.
  4. Deregulating and simplifying burdensome rules and processes for faster approvals and seamless coordination.

Shri Majhi stated that the next four years will lay the foundation for a “Samrudha Odisha 2036,” building on leadership in mining, metals, and green chemicals with support from major partners. He also highlighted the strengthening of port-based industrialization across the Paradip-Dhamra-Gopalpur stretch. Under CM Majhi’s leadership, Odisha is rapidly becoming a fast-growing industrial hub in Eastern India.
