Bhubaneswar: In a familiar trend, girls have once again outshone boys in the annual Class 12 examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) for the year 2025. The results, announced today by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, revealed a significant lead for female students in terms of both numbers and pass percentage.
Out of the 3.16 lakh students who successfully cleared the examinations, an impressive 1.74 lakh are girls, while 1.42 lakh are boys. The overall pass percentage for the Annual Higher Secondary Examination-2025 stood at 82.77 per cent. Digging deeper into the gender-wise performance, Minister Gond stated that the pass percentage for girls was 87.24, considerably higher than the 77.88 per cent achieved by boys.
A total of 3.93 lakh students had filled up forms to appear for the examination across Arts, Science, Commerce, and Vocational education streams, with 3.82 lakh ultimately sitting for the test.
Minister Gond expressed satisfaction with the results, highlighting that 1,01,914 students secured a first division, 67,815 students obtained a second division, and 1,43,339 students achieved a third division.
Stream-wise, Science continued its strong performance with a pass percentage of 87.49, closely followed by Commerce at 83.2 per cent. Arts recorded a pass percentage of 80.51, while Vocational studies logged 60.57 per cent.

CHSE officials confirmed that students can now download their mark sheets from the official websites, chseodisha.nic.in and orissaresults.nic.in.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the successful Class 12 students and wished them a bright future. In a post on X, he wrote, “Congratulations to all the students who passed the CHSE #Odisha Board Class 12th examinations in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Vocational streams. Wishing you all continued success and a bright future ahead.”
For those who did not achieve their desired results, Chief Minister Majhi offered words of encouragement and perspective. “This was not the last exam of your life. We will have to give many more exams in the coming days. Success in the exams of life is the real success. Make efforts with confidence. Make your father, mother and the country proud,” he advised.
