Blood Donation Camp In NIC

Bhubaneswar: The National Informatics Centre (NIC) State Headquarters in Bhubaneswar has observed the birth anniversary of Padma Bhushan Dr. N. Seshagiri, the visionary founder and first Director General of NIC, by organizing a successful blood donation camp. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from NIC officers and staff, resulting in the collection of 65 units of blood.

The blood donation drive was meticulously conducted under the expert guidance of doctors and staff from the Red Cross Regional Blood Centre, Bhubaneswar, ensuring the safety and well-being of all donors. The program commenced this morning with a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. Seshagiri, acknowledging his immense contributions to the field of information technology in India.

Prior to the camp, an awareness campaign on the significance of blood donation was organized yesterday evening at the Dr. Seshagiri Memorial Hall within the NIC centre. Dr. Debi Prasad Rath, Senior Medical Officer, and Mr. Gulsan Kumar Dash, Blood Centre Counsellor from the Red Cross Regional Centre, shared their valuable insights on various aspects of blood donation, emphasizing its crucial role in saving lives.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General (DDG) and State Informatics Officer (SIO) of NIC, Odisha, played a pivotal role in encouraging the staff to participate in this noble cause. He lauded their spirit of giving and urged them to continue donating blood regularly to support those in need.

Adding another dimension to the day’s activities, an eye check-up camp was also organized in collaboration with Dr. Agrawals Eye Hospital, providing a valuable health service to the attendees.

In the afternoon, Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota felicitated all the blood donors with certificates and mementoes, expressing his sincere gratitude for their active participation and selfless contribution. The successful organization of the blood donation camp stands as a fitting tribute to Dr. N. Seshagiri’s legacy, embodying a spirit of service and community engagement.
