State On High Alert

Bhubaneswar: In light of the ongoing military conflict with neighbouring Pakistan, Odisha is on high alert, with security significantly heightened across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high-level meeting today to review the security situation and preparedness. Minister Revenue & Disaster Management Suresh Pujari attended the Meet.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Manoj Sahu, Director General of Police Y B Khurania, and other senior officers.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari addressed the Media, stating that the State Government is taking all necessary precautionary steps and is following all instructions from the Government of India. “The state is well-equipped to handle any situation. There is no need for panic. We are in constant coordination with the Central Government, the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Odisha Police, and paramilitary forces to ensure the safety of our people,” Shri Pujari affirmed.

He further mentioned that the State Police are closely monitoring sensitive locations and drone operations have been regulated to mitigate potential risks. “In this war-like situation, security forces are working around the clock to maintain peace and order,” Shri Pujari said, adding that the Chief Minister has directed relevant departments to bolster surveillance and security around strategic locations.

Following the meeting, Additional Director General (Law and Order), Sanjay Kumar, informed the Media that security has been doubled at all major and vital installations across the state, including defence establishments, dams in hinterlands, and other strategic locations.

“Conflict is going on in the western border of the country and we have to strengthen our eastern coast line. We have taken several security measures including the security at defence establishments,” ADG Shri Kumar stated. He added that the state police are in constant touch with central security agencies and defence forces, with intelligence sharing being closely monitored at the highest level. “Our system is fully okay,” he assured.

The ADG emphasized that the entire coastline is under strict vigil and specific instructions have been issued regarding drone operations. “If any un-civil drone found flying, it will be down immediately,” he warned. While urging citizens not to panic, he reiterated that the state is on high alert due to the “extraordinary situation.”
