Centre Clears Puri Airport

New Delhi: Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted in-principle approval for the establishment of Greenfield airports in Puri, Odisha, and Kota, Rajasthan.

This significant development, announced by Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, aims to enhance air connectivity and promote regional development in both regions.

Puri Airport to Boost Religious Tourism and Regional Growth

The decision to build an airport in Puri, a revered pilgrimage destination and home to the iconic Lord Jagannath Temple, is expected to provide a substantial boost to religious tourism.

Millions of devotees and tourists from across India and the globe visit Puri annually. The new airport will significantly improve their accessibility, fostering regional development and strengthening overall connectivity.

“This airport will enhance direct connectivity between Puri and major metropolitan cities in India,” stated Minister Shri Kinjarapu. “This decision marks an important milestone for Puri and Odisha and is in line with the Government’s commitment to strengthening last-mile air connectivity and making air travel accessible to all.”

Kota Airport: A Long-Awaited Development Realized

The approval for the Kota airport is the culmination of sustained efforts by Om Birla, Speaker of Lok Sabha and MP from Kota-Bundi. His persistent advocacy for an airport in Kota has been instrumental in expediting this crucial approval.

Kota, a prominent educational and industrial hub, and the broader Hadoti region, will benefit immensely from the new airport. It will cater to the region’s burgeoning population and economic activity, connecting Kota to major national and international destinations.

“This decision marks a major milestone in the infrastructure development of Kota, Rajasthan, and the Government’s commitment to making air travel accessible to every citizen,” said Minister Shri Kinjarapu.

The establishment of these Greenfield airports reflects the government’s dedication to expanding and strengthening air connectivity across the nation, fostering economic growth, and enhancing accessibility for citizens and tourists alike.
