KV Slams Mamata

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo today strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee.

Speaking to reporters here, Shri Singh Deo said, “In my limited knowledge, I can say that there are four Dhams in India and only Jagannath Dham is there and that is in Puri. One Sankaracharya is there in each Dham,” he said.

“There is no harm in establishing a temple of Lord Jagannath. However, naming it Jagannath Dham is how much justified she (Mamata) should introspect,” the Deputy CM said.

He said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is aware about the Digha temple issue and the State Government will take necessary steps as needed.

Shri Singh Deo’s statement came in the wake of a controversial statement made by Ramakrushna Das Mahapatra, a senior Daitapati Servitor of the Puri Srimandir, who performed the Pratishtha Puja of the Digha Jagannath Temple.

He has reportedly said some media of West Bengal that he has provided unused Neem Wood of Puri Temple for conduction of idols of the Holy Trinity installed at the Jagannath Temple in Digha. He had also reportedly said that Brahma was installed on the idols.

Today, making a U turn, Shri Mohapatra said he had not used the remainder of the sacred wood used during the ‘Nabakalebara’ ritual for the construction of Lord Jagannath’s idol.

He also clarified that ‘Brahma’ exists only within the Puri Jagannath temple.

The senior servitor also rejected the idea of he naming of Digha Temple as Dham and said only one Jagannth Dham is there that is in Puri.
