Berhampur: Opposition BJD today visited the family of four year old girl of Ganjam who was allegedly raped and murdered and demanded strong legal action against the accused person.
A women fact-finding team of BJD led by Snehangini Chhuria visited the victim’s village and expressed their grave concern on rising crime against women in the State.
After discussing with the villagers and her family members, the BJD leaders termed the crime as rarest to rare and demanded that the accused should be given an exemplary punishment, so that such types of cases would not be repeated again.
The law and order situation in the state was very much worsened, where every day heinous crimes like rape and murder reported. The woman and children are not safe in the state, the BJD leaders alleged.

“I never thought even in my dream that such a heinous crime would happen to a small girl in my area. We will move to the human rights commission seeking stringent punishment against the accused so that no one can even think of committing such a crime,” she said.
Earlier Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Charan Das, Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena visited the village and discussed with the deceased’s parents and police separately.
Reacting on the crime case, earlier, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan had stated that it was an unfortunate incident. However, the accused was arrested, he said.
